The story
Berene Sauls grew up in the tiny hamlet of Tesselaarsdal, a village granted to freed slaves in the 1800s. After years at Hamilton Russell she launched her own label, making restrained, cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Hemel-en-Aarde fruit under the name of her home.
